Capital Campaign
The development of Somersfield Academy has been nothing short of
miraculous. From a small school on rented property with 70 children, we have
matured into a dynamic member of Bermuda’s
educational community.
Between 2001 and 2007 the school campus grew rapidly. The campus is
constructed in a village style with buildings clustered to preserve the maximum
open space and sports fields. The two buildings housing the 3-6 year old
classrooms are arranged to provide a central open-air play area. The classrooms
for the elementary students are in the main building while the middle years
students are housed in the new MYP Centre which includes two science labs,
technology labs, gymnasium with changing facilities, stage and arts studios.Open
air facilities include a full size soccer pitch, softball diamond and two age
appropriate playground areas. The facilities of the school are used by various
league and club teams for evening/night training. This provides older students
the opportunity to participate at a higher level in sports such as football,
rugby and field hockey.
As we continue to experience the growth and success of our school we must
keep in mind that our most essential mission is to ensure a first class place of
learning for our children. Our goal for the environment must be to support and
enhance the work of education.
