Student Government Association

Student Government Association is run by the MYP students and supervised by Angela Caldwell. The SGA runs activities primarily for the Middle Years Programme (M1-M5) but does branch out to work with and/or run events for the younger levels of the school.

President of the SGA -Tess Spencer                          

  • The President shall preside at all SGA meetings
  • Shall represent the student body of Somersfield Academy MYP, when called upon to do so by the principal, the Division Head and/or other members of staff.
  • The President is also responsible for ensuring students play a role in the participatory governance process.
  • The President must oversee and approve of all decisions happening within the SGA.

Vice President of the SGA - Ailey McLeod

  • In case of the President's abscence or inability to carry out his/her responsibilities, the Vice President will take charge and assume the responsibilities of the President.
  • Shall assist the President as directed.
  • Shall help to solve/discuss concerns and issues of students and members of the SGA.

Treasurer of the SGA - Shamar Morris

  • The Treasurer shall be responsible for the record keeping concerning all student government expenditures and income.
  • Shall submit a report on the financial status of the SGA whenever required.
  • Shall be responsible for preparing a budget for the SGA (with the help of Ms. Caldwell)

Secretary of the SGA - Camila Papadopoulo

  • The Secretary shall be responsible for coordinating, managing and maintaining all records and public relations material generated by the SGA.
  • Shall work to establish proper and responsible record keeping and public relations procedures, and provide general office support to the SGA.
  • Is in charge of writing all meetings' minutes.
  • In case of absence, the secretary must appointment another member to take minutes.

Social Organizer of the SGA - Marissa Trott

  • The Social Organizer coordinates and delegates jobs for school social and entertaining such as Dances, Cinema Night and Fun Days. He/she will work closely with the treasurer in order to maintain records of all monies received to organize events.

Charity Organizer of the SGA -

  • The Charity Organizer coordinates and delegates jobs regarding any Charity work done on campus and outside school. The Charity Organizer is responsible for liaising with our main global charity. He/She will work closely with the Treasurer in order to maintain records of all money received for and sent to Charities.
